SPRING/SUMMER POSITIONS

GENERAL EMPLOYMENT (TAPROOM FOH & BOH)

Come join the Thunder Island family! We are looking for seasonal part-time and full-time team members who are excited to work with us in our new 10,000 sq ft restaurant and brewery. Tips are pooled between FOH and BOH; Restaurant is fully air-conditioned, Opportunities for job growth.*

Tips are pooled between FOH and BOH. Kitchen staff receives 33% of all tips! The restaurant is fully air-conditioned - even the kitchen!

  • Line Cooks Wage: Hourly Wage + Tips. Line Cooks make up to $33/hour in peak hours and peak season..

  • Prep Cooks Wage: Hourly Wage + Tips. Prep Cooks make up to $27/hour in peak hours and peak season.

  • Dishwashers Wage: Hourly Wage + Tips. Dishwashers make up to $17.50/hour. This is a GREAT first job.

  • FOH Support Staff (Food Runners & Bussers) make up to $20.50/hour in peak hours and peak season.

  • Hosts: Make up to $23/hour in peak hours and peak season

  • FOH Servers and Beertenders: make up to $35/hour in peak hours and peak season.

If you refer more awesome people to join the team, we are offering up to $500 per referral.

We promote from within, so motivated seasonal employees may have an opportunity to stay on past the season.

All positions must have or be able to obtain an Oregon Food Handlers Card. Front-of-House positions must be able to obtain an OLCC permit.

BREWHOUSE POSITIONS

A Little About the Brewhouse: 15bbl Brewhouse housing six 15bbl and three 30bbl tanks. We currently self distribute and distribute via Point Blank within the Gorge and greater Portland area, with hopes of returning to WA state in the near future. We are slated to make 1500 bbls for 2023.

We brew a wide variety of traditional and seasonal beers plus sour and barrel-aged beers. Daily operations include wort production, racking, carbonating, kegging, keg washing, tap cleaning, CIP-ing tanks, and more cleaning. We are currently mobile canning about once a month. Since we have a small staff, brewers may sometimes be asked to assist in other roles, including beer delivery, raw materials pick-up, and assisting various festivals/events.

BREWER

We are looking for an experienced brewer with a minimum of two years of professional experience to join our small team. The right candidate should be a quick learner ready to kick all the asses by summertime and be able to identify, prioritize, and execute projects during the slower seasons. 

The right candidate will have:

  • A passion for craft beer and the Gorge

  • A strong work ethic with excellent attention to detail and time management

  • Previous experience working in a beverage production environment (specifically: ability to CIP a tank, monitor fermentation, etc.) 

  • An understanding of fermentation processes and yeast management

  • The desire to continually learn and improve skill-sets

  • The ability to think critically and work unsupervised as well as part of a team

  • A mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical systems

  • The ability to maintain detailed documentation

  • Strong communication skills and proficiency with Google office programs 

  • The ability to lift up to 55 pounds repeatedly, and the ability to lift 165 pounds

  • Clean driving record and the ability to drive company vehicles

  • Forklift skills are a plus, but not mandatory

The Brewer will report directly to our Head Brewer and will be actively involved in all facets of day-to-day operations, from the receipt and processing of raw materials to the packaging of the finished beer.

Specific job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with wort production on our 15 bbl brewhouse

  • Fermentation management

  • Cellar work including transferring and carbonating

  • Keg washing and filling

  • Tank cleaning and sanitation

  • Brewhouse cleaning

  • Cellar and cold box cleaning

  • Draft line cleaning

  • More cleaning

  • Cooler tetris

  • Inventory management
